Full Time with some evening and weekend work, including a minimum of two days in person (generally at our office in Oakland but some days in San Jose).

About Winter Consulting
We are a small and growing Bay Area consulting firm looking for an experienced Senior Director to join our leadership team. Our 12-member staff brings a wealth of professional and lived experience to our collaborative team.

Winter Consulting’s projects commonly focus on community engagement to assist public agencies in getting ample community input on upcoming plans that will impact community members. Many of these projects focus on integrating voices and feedback from historically underrepresented communities. We are passionate about racial and social equity and would like to hire someone that honors these values.
The Senior Director Role
The Senior Director role is an executive role that will join firm leadership in the majority of firm management decisions. We are seeking a seasoned candidate who will be comfortable managing their own projects while supervising managers. We will be seeking candidates with strong skills in administrative process, professional communication, client management, quality control measures, and staff development/mentorship. The successful Senior Director is an energetic professional who is highly organized and is able to provide feedback and guidance to junior employees at different stages of their professional journeys and to develop and implement quality control practices for projects across the firm.

Job responsibilities will include:

Manage people with fine-tuned mentorship capabilities, including direct reports who have their own direct reports

Guide team participation and morale
-
Support staff in client management and leading more complicated client management

Develop and implement quality control measures for all project deliverables, including reports and engagement collateral as well as event implementation

Business development: participation in project pipeline, relationship cultivation, proposals, and interviewing

Contract negotiations, project pricing and scoping, project invoicing
-
Focus on delivery of product while effectively delegating project administrative tasks (managing schedules, scheduling meetings, updating spreadsheets, building powerpoints, etc.) using Click Up project management software

Facilitate project-planning Zoom meetings and ensuring staff is capturing the appropriate records of decisions and action items

Ensure projects are highly successful and run on time, stay on track and within budget

Operational leadership: oversee firm finances, participate in accounting system decisions, participate in decisions around firm legal structures and ownership systems, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations

Required Qualifications Include:
-
Bachelor’s Degree
-
8 years of relevant project management experience (preferably in the planning, outreach, and/or marketing fields) with the experience in the majority areas described in the job description above

5 years experience managing others
-
Ability to oversee quality control for all project deliverables including engagement events, collateral, and documentation
-
Being detail-oriented, self-directed, prompt, and able to prioritize work effectively

Expertise in Microsoft Suite: Word, Powerpoint, Excel

Expertise in Google Suite: Sheets, Docs, etc.

Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software quickly, such as CRMs
-
Familiarity with DEI topics and relevant issues and the ability to discuss challenges in this space

Ability to work 9 - 5 Monday – Friday with occasional earlier, later, or weekend hours as projects require, ability to work in person 2 days/week in our Oakland office and occasionally in San Jose

Ability to travel to events anywhere in the Bay Area region

Optional Qualifications Include

Experience in materials creation (In Design, PowerPoint or Canva slides, etc.)
